Cinder and Frost

A short dark fantasy interactive story set in a frozen city of steam. You play as Tam, a young pipe runner trying to bring one small comfort home to his sick sister, Ash. When the Cathedral’s last Sunseed fractures, a tiny hatchling escapes into the vents. Following it could save the city, or doom what little warmth remains.

Experimental AI & Tools

This game is an experiment with AI storytelling and game development.

For our second narrative driven game we focused on a short linear story again, but opened up with a more complex plot and world. The AI handled nearly all the game creation work including writing the story, prose, images, music etc. Prompts for images and music were also created by AI. This time we are trying a stop motion style for the art.

The story gen system is fully autonomous but human intervention still helps to iterate on the initial story outline, revise prose, and regenerate images that needed work. Some of the biggest issues we had were broken continuity and prose being overly complex despite not using a high reading level.

Ash's Honey Cake

• Mix 1/4 cup honey with 1/2 cup water.
• Add 1 egg and stir.
• Add 1 cup flour and 1 tsp baking powder.
• Add a pinch of salt and cinnamon.
• Pour into a greased tin.
• Bake at 175 C for about 30 minutes.
